Alaska Coastal Clean Water
Plan (ACCWP) |

The Enhancement Grants Program (EGP) was created by Congress as part of the 1990 reauthorization of the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) under Section 309. Alaska's participation in the voluntary Enhancement Grants Program is intended to improve the effectiveness of our coastal management program in one or more of nine national categories. An assessment and strategy identifies which of the nine categories is a priority for a state to work on. A coastal state with an approved Strategy can receive funds for projects that enhance how the state's coastal management program works in any category selected as a priority. Alaska's 2001 Enhancement Grants Program Assessment and Strategy is based on an evaluation of the projects completed during 1996-2000, and outlines five high priority categories for funding over the next five years. The 2001
Enhancement Grants Program Assessment and Strategy was approved
by the Coastal Policy Council on August 16, 2001. The federal
office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management (OCRM) approved the
Assessment and Strategy on October 10, 2001.
